Tom Petty is looking to right a past wrong by releasing the second half to the acclaimed 1994 'Wildflowers' album later this year.
There’s seemingly little that Tom Petty can do wrong, and the heartland rocker proved that with the release of his 1994 solo album ‘Wildflowers.’
The effort wasn’t quite isolated from his work the Heartbreakers, seeing as most of the lineup appears on ‘Wildflowers,’ however the album still featured notable collaborations with names like Ringo Starr and spawned a number of hit songs including “You Don’t Know How it Feels” and “It’s Good to Be King.”
Since it’s release, ‘Wildflowers’ has moved more than three million copies in the United States alone and has received warm reception from fans and critics alike, however there was something still bothering Petty about the album – half of it was left off the table.
Tom Petty is looking to correct that wrong with the release of his new album, ‘Wildflowers: All the Rest,’ which is tentatively scheduled for release later this year.
The archival project reportedly features songs that were recorded between 1992 and 1994, and in preparation for the album’s release Petty is currently streaming a preview of the new song “Somewhere Under Heaven.”
The complete version of “Somewhere Under Heaven” is currently available through digital retailers and will be included in the closing credits for the upcoming film ‘Entourage.’
