Without looking it up, I do believe that Pete Steele died in 2010. As far as I know his cause of death was just said to be heart failure and never really said exactly what.

According to Rolling Stone magazine Peter Steele died of heart failure on 10th April 2010, aged 48. Trent Reznor is quoted as saying, "I'm smiling recalling a funny story involving Pete, a microphone, an all-girl lipstick-lesbian band and a can of tuna. Ahh, the good old days..." What's a lisptick-lesbian band? He famously posed for Playgirl magazine and became a gay icon, which irritated him. I know him because he contributes vocals and bass to Just Say No to Love on Tony Iommi's self-titled album, but it's not the best track.
