1946 Andy Bown (keyboardist, rhythm guitarist for Status Quo) is born in Beckenham, London, England.

1950 Tony Banks (keyboardist for Genesis) is born in East Hoathly, East Sussex, England.

1953 Rock guitarist Wally Stocker (of The Babys, Air Supply and Humble Pie) is born in London, England.

1987, U2 performed from the roof of a store in downtown LA to make the video for ‘Where The Streets Have No Name’, attracting thousands of spectators and bringing traffic to a standstill. The police eventually stop the shoot.

2006 – Pete Wells, slide guitarist and one of the founders of Australian power blues band Rose Tattoo, dies in a Sydney hospital. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2002 and had spent the previous five weeks in the hospital. He is 59.

1979 Eric Clapton married George Harrison's ex-wife, Patti Boyd at the Apostolic Assembly of Faith in Christ Jesus church in Tucson, Arizona. To throw off the press, Clapton's manager, Roger Forrester had booked the event in nearly every church in town. Eric's band and road crew rented black and powder blue tuxedos, but forgot to order shoes, so they showed up wearing their everyday, dirty sneakers.

1979: Ian Hunter released his fourth solo album, You’re Never Alone with a Schizophrenic. The LP features contributions from Mick Ronson, John Cale, and Roy Bittan, Max Weinberg, and Garry Tallent from Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band. It became Hunter’s highest charting album in the US, reaching #35 on the Billboard chart.

1986 - Van Halen kicked off their 112-date North American tour at the Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport, Lousiana. It was the band's first tour with Sammy Hagar on lead vocals.

2015 - Country singer Willie Nelson announced that he and his family were hard at work on a new brand of marijuana called Willie's Reserve.

1948 John Evan (keyboardist for Jethro Tull) is born in Blackpool, Lancashire, England.

1964 Radio Caroline, the UK's first all-day English-language "pirate" radio station, begins broadcasting from the Fredericia, a former Danish ferry, in the North Sea.

1992, Over a $100,000 (£58,800) worth of damage was caused at The Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre, California, when Ozzy Osbourne invited the first two rows of the audience on stage. Several others took up the offer and the band was forced to exit the stage.

1976 - Genesis began their first North American tour since Peter Gabriel left the band, appearing in Buffalo, New York, with Phil Collins taking over as lead singer. The band had auditioned more than 400 vocalists to be Gabriel's replacement, but ended up going with the guy who'd been their main backup singer all along.
