1999 Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band set a new record for the number of consecutive concerts to be performed during a continuous run at a single arena. When tickets for their reunion tour went on sale for their shows at the Continental Airlines Arena in New Jersey, only five shows were scheduled initially, but overwhelming demand raised the number to a total of 15 shows.

1944 Patti Labelle is born Patricia Louise Holt in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

1946 Steve Upton (original drummer for Wishbone Ash) is born in Wrexham, Wales, but will be raised in Exeter, Devon, England.

1947 Blue Öyster Cult drummer Albert Bouchard is born in Watertown, New York.

1969 Rich Robinson (guitarist for The Black Crowes) is born in Atlanta, Georgia.

1991 Founder member of The Byrds Gene Clark died of a heart attack aged 49. Wrote The Byrds hits 'I'll Feel a Whole Lot Better', and 'Eight Miles High', member of McGuinn, Clark and Hillman and solo.

2010 John Fogerty's 1985 hit "Centerfield" was selected to be honored at the National Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies. The event would mark the first time a musician or song has been honored in such a way.
