1999 - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band set a new record for the number of consecutive concerts to be performed during a continuous run at a single arena. When tickets for their reunion tour went on sale for their shows at the Continental Airlines Arena (aka Meadowlands Arena) in New Jersey, only five shows were scheduled initially, but overwhelming demand raised the number to a total of 15 shows.

1971, The Rolling Stones album Sticky Fingers started a four-week run at number one on the charts, the group’s second chart topping album, the set featured “Brown Sugar,” “Bitch,” and “Wild Horses.” The artwork for Sticky Fingers, which, on the original vinyl release, featured a working zipper that opened to reveal cotton briefs, was conceived by American pop artist Andy Warhol. The cover, a photo of Joe Dallesandro’s crotch clad in tight blue jeans, was assumed by many fans to be an image of Mick Jagger. The album also features the first usage of the “Tongue and Lip Design” created by John Pasche.

1934 Dr. Robert Moog, engineer and inventor of the Moog synthesizer, is born in New York City.

1946 Danny Klein (bassist for The J. Geils Band) is born in The Bronx, New York City.

1947 Bill Hunt (keyboardist and horn player for Electric Light Orchestra) is born in Birmingham, England.

1953 Rick Fenn (guitarist for 10cc) is born in England.

1960 The Everly Brothers' "Cathy's Clown" hits #1 in America for the first of five weeks. In the UK, it has been at #1 since May 11, making it the first song to top both charts at the same time.

1967 Phil Selway (drummer for Radiohead) is born in Abingdon-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, England.

2010 Bret Michaels of Poison wins Season 9 of Donald Trump's show The Celebrity Apprentice.

1973, Jefferson Airplane were prevented from giving a free concert in Golden Gate Park when San Francisco authorities passed a resolution banning electronic instruments. The group later wrote “We Built this City” about the ban.

1987: Bob Seger released “Shakedown,” a single written by Seger, Harold Faltermeyer, and Keith Forsey for the soundtrack to the film Beverly Hills Cop II. It became Seger’s only #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

2000: Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts released Charlie Watts/Jim Keltner Project, a tribute to several jazz drummers recorded with prolific session musician Jim Keltner.
