1976 - ABBA knocked Queen from the U.K. No. 1 position on the U.K. singles chart with "Mamma Mia". Queen's single "Bohemian Rhapsody" had enjoyed a nine-week run at the top of the charts, and by coincidence, Queen's single contains the famous "mamma mia, mamma mia, mamma mia let me go" line.

2017 - English singer, bassist, and songwriter John Wetton died in his sleep at his home in Dorset, U.K. from colon cancer. He rose to fame with bands Mogul Thrash, Family, King Crimson, Roxy Music, Uriah Heep, and Wishbone Ash. After his period with King Crimson, Wetton formed U.K., and later he was the frontman and principal songwriter of the supergroup Asia. Their biggest hit "Heat of the Moment", reached No. 4 in the U.S. in 1982.

2026 Chuck Negron, vocalist and founding member of Three Dog Night, passed away at the age of 83. He had dealt with chronic lung disease for several decades, and in recent months had also battled heart problems. During his tenure with the band, Negron sang lead vocals on several of their Billboard hits, including "One" (#5 in 1969), "Easy To Be Hard" (#4 in 1969), "Joy To The World" (#1 in 1972), "An Old Fashioned Love Song" (#4 in 1971), "Pieces Of April" (#19 in 1973), "The Show Must Go On" (#4 in 1974) and "Til The World Ends" (#32 in 1975). He was dismissed from the group in 1985 following a prolonged battle with substance abuse, but overcame his addictions in the early 1990s. That journey was detailed in his 1999 book, Three Dog Nightmare.
