1980 A billboard was erected on Sunset Strip, West Hollywood, California to promote Pink Floyd’s new album The Wall. A blank wall was pasted up and each day a brick was ‘removed’ to slowly reveal the inside spread and title of the album.

2017 American drummer Butch Trucks from The Allman Brothers Band died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head in West Palm Beach, Florida, at the age of 69. He played in various groups before forming the 31st of February while at Florida State University in the mid 1960s. He joined the Allman Brothers Band in 1969. Their 1971 live release, At Fillmore East, represented an artistic and commercial breakthrough.

1969 - The Doors appeared at Madison Square Garden, New York City. They were paid over $50,000 for the gig making them one of the highest paid acts that year.

2016 - David Bowie was at No. 1 on both the U.K. and U.S. album charts with his twenty-fifth and final studio album Blackstar.

1965: Gerry and the Pacemakers’ first film Ferry Cross The Mersey had its Liverpool premiere at the Odeon Theater. It was the first rock musical filmed on-location in Liverpool and the era’s only film document of the Merseybeat scene, with the hit title track written specifically for the film.

1958 Gary Tibbs (bass guitarist for Adam & The Ants, Roxy Music) is born in Northwood, London, England.

1971 Grace Slick and Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane welcome a baby girl they name "God." Her name is later changed to "China," and as "China Kantner" she becomes a VJ on MTV.

1985 Prince releases "Take Me With U," the last single from Purple Rain.

1994 Alice In Chains released Jar of Flies. It is the first EP in music history to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with the first week sales exceeding 141,000 copies in the United States. The self-produced EP was written and recorded over the course of just one week at the London Bridge Studio in Seattle. The tracks "No Excuses", "I Stay Away" and "Don't Follow" were released as singles to promote the album. Jar of Flies was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 1995: Best Recording Package and Best Hard Rock Performance for "I Stay Away".

1975: Little Feat released their third studio album, Dixie Chicken. The band added two additional members, guitarist Paul Barrere and percussionist Sam Clayton, and Kenny Gradney replaced original bassist Roy Estrada. The album’s title track is considered the group’s signature song that further defined their sound.

1963: The Rolling Stones played their first show with new members, drummer Charlie Watts and bass guitarist Bill Wyman, at the Ricky Tick Club in the Star and Garter Hotel in Windsor, UK. This is widely considered to be the band's "classic" lineup, with Wyman playing with the band until 1993 and Watts staying with them until his death in 2021.
