Found this at the official Jethro Tull site:

TAAB2 - Whatever Happened To Gerald Bostock? - is a full length Progressive Rock "concept" album worthy of its predecessor. Boy to man and beyond, it looks at what might have befallen the child poet Gerald Bostock in later life. Or, perhaps, any of us. To be released in two formats: the simple jewel case CD with 8-page booklet and the Special Edition with CD, audio-visual DVD and 16-page booklet. The DVD contains 5.1 surround mixes, 24-bit stereo mix, videos covering the making of the album, interviews with the musicians and the lyric reading where Ian Anderson reads the lyrics in various settings. Also on the DVD are the pages of StCleve.com, the online update of the St Cleve Chronicle, fabled newspaper of the original album, and the multilingual lyric translations in Italian, German, Spanish, Czech, Polish and Russian.
The 2012 tours feature the performance of Thick As A Brick One AND Two in most of the concerts.

Sure to be very interesting stuff, Ian Anderson will always be up there with the all time greats as a writer and deep thinker about his music, and as a classic British eccentric even! Though I don't know why you can't just buy an album these days and have done with it, more often than not there's a standard edition, a deluxe edition, a 3 disc DVD edition, a 4 disc DVD edition, a vinyl edition, and even an iTunes edition, so by the time they are done they've stretched a new 70 minute album out to about 9 hours.

According to wikipedia this is going to be an Ian Anderson solo album and not a Jethro Tull release:

Thick As a Brick 2 (2012) is an upcoming studio album by Jethro Tull frontman Ian Anderson. It is based on Thick as a Brick, a 1972 conceptual album by Jethro Tull.

The original cover of prequel is a newspaper mock, entitled The St. Cleve Chronicle and Linwell Advertiser. In 2012, to follow this style, an online newspaper, simply entitled StCleve has been set up. According to Anderson, the concept of sequel depicts the protagonist of original album, Gerald Bostock: "I wonder what the eight-year-old Gerald Bostock would be doing today. Would the fabled newspaper still exist?".

The original Thick as a Brick consists of only two long tracks, while the announcements for its sequel list 17 separate tracks.

1."From A Pebble Thrown"
2."Pebbles Instrumental"
3."Might-have-beens"
4."Upper Sixth Loan Shark"
5."Banker Bets, Banker Wins"
6."Swing It Far"
7."Adrift And Dumfounded"
8."Old School Song"
9."Wootton Bassett Town"
10."Power And Spirit"
11."Give Till It Hurts"
12."Cosy Corner"
13."Shunt And Shuffle"
14."A Change Of Horses"
15."Confessional"
16."Kismet In Suburbia"
17."What-ifs, Maybes And Might-have-beens"

An additional DVD was also announced, with following contents:

1.5.1 Surround Sound of entire album (Mixed by Steven Wilson)
2.The making of the album (25 min.)
3.Interview with Ian Anderson talking about the album
4.Interview with Steven Wilson
5.Lyric reading (25 min.)
6.Artwork

Having Stephen Wilson involved is like the Gold Standard of approval for me. I'll have to get the deluxe version for sure, which I rarely do.

Totally true. It was cool when he worked on King Crimson's 40th anniversary releases and there's no doubt this will stand out. I definitely want the deluxe edition. :cheers2
