is a group in which I found when I first started using myspace. It must have been when the group first started gaining heat because tons of profiles, except for my real life friends who would disappoint me by having a lame Nickelback song on theirs, would have the following song that I fell in love with!

"Self Conclusion"

Fade in, start the scene
Enter beautiful girl
But things are not what they seem
As we stand the edge of the world

Excuse me sir,
But I have plans to die tonight
Oh, and you are directly in my way
And I bet you're gonna say it's not right

My reply

Excuse me miss,
But do you have the slightest clue
Oh exactly what you just said to me
And exactly who you're talking to?

She said "I don't care, you don't even know me"
I said " I know but I'd like to change that soon hopefully"
Yeah, We all flirt with the tiniest notion
Of self conclusion in one simplified motion
You see the trick is that you're never supposed to act on it
No matter how unbearable this misery gets

You make it sound so easy to be alive
But tell me how am I supposed to seize this day
When everything inside of me has died

My reply
Trust me girl
I know your legs are pleading to jump
But I offer you this easy choice, instead of dying living with me

She said "Are you crazy, you don't even know me"
I said "I know, I'd like to change that soon hopefully"
Yeah, We all flirt with the tiniest notion
Of self conclusion in one simplified notion
You see the trick is that you're never supposed to act on it
No matter how unbearable this misery gets

I would be lying if I said that things would never get rough
And all this cliche motivation, it could never be enough
I could stand here all night trying to convince you
But what good would that do?
My offer stands, and you must choose

"Alright, you win, but I only give you one night,
To prove yourself to be better than my attempt at flight
And I swear if you hurt me
I will leap
I will toss myself from these very cliffs
And you'll never see it coming"

"Settle precious, I know what you're going through,
Cause ten minutes before you got here I was gonna jump too"

Yeah we all flirt with the tiniest notion
Of self conclusion in one simplified motion
You see the trick is that you're never supposed to act on it
No matter how unbearable this misery get

I love, love , love that song and love the style (although altered since) of their music that concentrated on simple acoustics, an expressive emotional vocalist who also kept things simple and GREAT storytelling. I love the movie scene approach to that above song! After hearing that song which was off of their second release I bought this c.d.:

"One Fell Swoop"

Ironically, i had seen the c.d. before but never knew anything about it! My other favorite tracks from it are:

"This Is For Keeps"

"Valiant"

I then bought their 1st c.d.

"Sunsets and Car Crashes"

This one had this awesome dark tale of family bliss

"The Tide"

As well as softly romantic acoustic ballads such as these!

"Aim Snap Fall"

"The Night Will Go As Follows"

This is just part one! Now on to the newer material!

"The Spill Canvas" admittedly went for a mainstream, harder rocking sound off of their last c.d. and EPs but I still really liked the music. The following release:

"No Really, I'm Fine"

had two great catchy as HELL singles in:

"All Over You"

"Saved"
(This used to be my ringtone before I kept dropping my phone and had to replace it with a stone age version! :heheh: )

This is the lovemaking song on the c.d.!

"Connect The Dots"

So on top of all this I saw them live in Florida and they were a great live band even though their set list strayed away from my favorite songs!

EWWW! sorry Bry, this one struck a sour note with me.......sorry again, I cant follow you down this path, buddy. ::thumbdown:

The vocalist sounds off key to me and I just cant get past that.

Spill Canvas will have to remain in YOUR library this round :D

Just found out these guys had a debut before "Sunsets and Car Crashes"! I'm betting it's out of print though!

Re: "The Official" (The) Spill Canvas Thread

I'm really excited that I stumbled across a new album by these guys but real frustrated that it's ended up only digital! It's too bad but it makes sense since they are independent right now and that's the suitable financial option! I'm just really trying to stay away from digital right now as it frustrates me! Anyway, now off their label they've gone back to the stripped down, bard like tales and storytelling that defined them making Sooty a happy camper! :grinthumb

I'm really digging these tracks as of now:

To: Chicago
(a dark brooding rock track, in some parts this song reminds me of shades of In The Air Tonight)

Sabotage Eternal
(Cheerfully grungy at the beginning with a classic rock chorus)
