That's alright Phil! We can play it a little loose and just focus on getting some feedback on these artist (Siffre and Carr) before bringing up any more. I've got to say I love Carrs voice. It's so rich and has so much confidence behind it. I like it better than a lot of other standards and would love to hear more about him by others who know him and have the same questions or maybe answers about him! :cheers2

Old and new...

Siffre. I admit it is the first time I have heard of him. He has that light, breezy quality on his songs that would be great in those romantic comedies. Why that came on my head I have no idea why. Kanye West? Really? "Pretty Little Girl" is a charming song. Reminds me of Donovan. If big name artists are aware of him as mentioned then by all means he should have more exposure.

"The Dark End Of The Street"... Oh man, I love that song by Carr but I first heard it as a cover version on "The Commitments" soundtrack. So soulful and emotional… When you are in the same genre as the Gayes, Greens and Reddings, I can say it would be difficult to get airplay. Thanks Phil B.

John David Souther...

His one hit song "You're Only Lonely"...

I've never forgotten this song when I first heard it on my little FM radio curled in my bed while drifting off to sleep. I have the 45 to this day. Apparently, Mr. Souther is more than an accomplished singer but an actor as well. His body of work goes through some heavy hitters in music.

There's more to music than bad boy boogie and bucket of blood blues... :)

Nice! There's really something unique about that song in that I can see both fans of groups like the Eagles and fans of crooners such as Roy Orbison liking that track. BTW, anyone with actual memories of these artists is more than welcome to chime in as I can only comment on what I hear. I'm enjoying hearing stuff I never would've before though and can hear potential in all of these. :grinthumb
