Real punk vs. corporate 'punk' light? Hmmmmm, which one should I choose?

Come on. The Ramones are genuine at least.

The thing is, I wouldn't call the Clash just punk, they are also Ska, Reggae and even jazz influence. I realize Ramones came first and may have been more influential in terms of raw punk, but I wouldn't call them better musicians or better song writers.

I do prefer some Ramones' albums over The Clash's short list of albums. But London Calling is the delegate album in Punk Rock in my opinion.

To each his own man. I could never buy into anything done by the clash for even 2 seconds. It all sounds so much a put on and a corporate product but I'm pretty picky about everything anyway. I sometimes really wish I wasn't. It would make turning on the radio much more enjoyable.

I love both, but it's a bit of an odd comparison. The Ramones were just beginning as recording artists, the Clash by this time had plenty of recording and performing experience. A better comparison would be, say, London Calling v Road to Ruin, or perhaps of the first album by each band. I voted Ramones because it is an album that changed rock music. London Calling is the best album by a great band, but it does not have that historical significance IMHO. Also, every Clash album, even this one, has some filler. There is not a wasted track on any of The Ramones first four albums.
