Speaking as an older rock and roll fan it always warms my heart to see the younger generation learning from the past and emulating it, or at least trying to in their own style, and then hopefully moving on to their own original material.

So in this thread, post an old song, followed by a cool newer version in the learning process, and maybe followed by original material by the new artist.

Or something like that :)

Okay, the old (The Letter - The Box Tops)

The new learning version (Henry Black - Sound Express)

Original material by the new artist (Sound Express - Broken)

Oh well...

Good luck to the next generation of rock and roll. Everything has changed, but videos like this give me some hope. Carry the torch...

This was a great idea for a thread Sloop but I somehow missed it prior! :) I hope it can get some traction again but I'll definitely contribute! The band you posted is really cool BTW! :grinthumb

Thanks for posting. Very cool videos! :)

It's okay if this thread doesn't grow. I wasn't sure if anyone around here had ever heard of Sound Express, so I just wanted to post some of their stuff somewhere. They are a local Orlando, FL band and the lead singer/songwriter Henry Black is still very young, but very good.

Here is another one of their videos:
