The Go-Betweens Official Website

THE GO-BETWEENS......were a highly acclaimed and influential indie rock band from Brisbane Australia . Originally formed in 1977 round the talented writing skills of Grant McLennan and Robert Forster.
After several early singles they at one stage relocated in the UK and albums followed but mainstream commercial success eluded them. They disbanded in 1989...to later reform with a new line up in 2000.
It was a sad day for music when in 2006 Grant McLennan suddenly died of a heart attack...........later resulting the end of The Go-Betweens. He was 48

Albums

Send Me a Lullaby (1982)
Before Hollywood (1983)
Spring Hill Fair (1984)
Liberty Belle and the Black Diamond Express (1986)

16 Lovers Lane (1988)
The Friends of Rachel Worth (2000)

In the 90s......Grant McLennan and Robert Forster pursued solo careers....producing some fine tunes :grinthumb

Australia can be well proud of THE GO-BETWEENS another good band the country has produced . They never did get worldwide fame but they made some fine records.Influences range from Velvet Underground,Talking Heads,The Smiths.....even Bob Dylan

I first became aware of Grant McLennans impressive songwriting style with his collaboration with THE CHURCHs Steve Kilbey in the project JACK FROST.They made 2 fantastic albums.....Kilbey already a genius in my eyes...[ massive CHURCH fan here ].McLennan in great form an inspired partnership both complimenting each others styles. Heres 2 pearlers.....

Ive never heard of The Go Betweens but if they were influenced by the likes of Velvet Underground,Talking Heads,The Smiths.....even Bob Dylan then I think I may like them.

Another band for me to check out :D
