At the tail end of the 20th century the Flaming Lips released the highly, critically acclaimed "The Soft Bulletin". Everytime I hear this album it gets better. This is definitely their best album, a masterpiece of swirling, orchestral, and epic psychedelia. Every song is an epiphany of its own, combining sugary sweet melodies and layered instruments that continue to reward the listener time after time. This album should rank with classics such as Dark Side Of The Moon, Sgt. Pepper and Pet Sounds.

Re: Has anyone not heard The Soft Bulletin?

I'm a BIG Flaming Lips fan. Glad you brought it up, I love it.
You know what, though? I really don't get why so many consider it WAY out ahead of the pack. I think ALL their albums are mighty good and this is no exception.

One minor ******, for me. 2 tracks are repeated on my cd. They don't seem to be 'reprises' either just very nearly the same tracks twice in different places. I think the UK version might be different. I find this a bit distracting even though they are both good songs.

some of their VERY best tracks are here, no doubt about it.

I heard "Waiting for Superman" while waiting for a movie to start once.
It's a good song to wait for a movie to start to.

The 2 repeated tracks "Race for the Prize" and "Waiting For a Superman" are just remixes.

I'm a Flaming Lips fan myself. Yoshimi gets my vote for best album, though.

I'm a little behind on the old DVD watching and buying I'm afraid. Still haven't seen their DVD but I do have pretty much most of their albums.
