Yeah "Magic" thought I might like to join the party on this forum, since their forum was unfortunately hacked!

For those who don't know me, I like all kinds of Old Music as well as some Newer stuff which has a folksy feel about it. The era I appreciate the most is the 60s music - some of the hit based stuff from what era has become a drag though, but there's some pretty decent stuff from what period which has been long forgotten - and even the origins of Punk begin in the 60s Garage Band Scene (unfortunately I don't have a lot of that!).

I also listen to music which also predates Classic Rock, so I guess I won't be talking a lot about it in here!

My Groups/Singers I apprecate:

* The Byrds

* Gene Clark - with the Byrds & his after life (Gene Clark & The Gosdin Brothers, the Dillard & Clark Expedition, Solo - as well some other wonderful tracks with Chips Douglas, The Textones).

* 60s Bee Gees

* Pink Floyd

* Peter, Paul & Mary

* Harry Belafonte (which I maybe sneaking slightly off-topic now!) :-o

* The Seekers

* Del Shannon

* The BEATLES! :-D

Welcome to the forum CP. I like your style of music.

Yeah unfortunately I'm always missing names out of my list:

* Ralf McTell

* Jim Croce

* Bread

* America

* Johnny Rivers

* Scott McKenzie

* Barry McGuire

* The Turtles

* The Moody Blues

* Simon And Garfunkel

* The Zombies

* The Lovin' Spoonful

* Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

As you can see I like a ton of different stuff and I'm always forgetting to add someone from that 60s period which fascinates me. The Byrds for me are one most interesting groups from that mid to early 70s priod where there music started with a Pop-Folk, went Psydelliac, went Country, to Country Folk and to Folklore perhaps! The original members obviously seperated and did great things with other groups as well as associating with other various projects such as David Hemmings and The Rose Garden which are perhaps as interesting to listen to if your into the Byrds. The Byrd Parts 1 & 2 CDs are excellent CDs just to get those curios & Rare Songs though.

And yes I just Love - Forever Changes! (The Picture of the top of the Forum just reminded me of them!) :-o

I just brought that one to see what all the hype was about (cause at the time I saw the CD as well as their expensive Live DVD of Forever Changed) - I knew none of their music, the only hint I had was their early music was similar to the Byrds, so I thought I'd take pot luck - and wasn't disappointed!

Might actually listen to Forever Changes now! :)

Thanks, yeah the old MuzicForums isn't looking too good - I got in again earlier, but I couldn't read any of the posts (again), just how it was after it was hacked Unfortunately! :-(

Anyway yeah - somewhere to put some 60s discussions! :-D Music is just Incrediable Broad in the 60s - even folk groups like The Weavers which go back to the late 40s were doing stuff in the 60s! :-D

Thanks Folks - yeah I had a few issues accessing this forum at first. Magic was nice enough to fix those up! :-D

Hi Zombeel - yeah I've a bit of a long list of groups I like to listen too. I don't confine myself strictly to 60s music, though it's the decade of music which gets me going! :-D I'm most notorious on the other forum for listening to stuff some 30+ years old that music from that period too! And from time to time I'll listen to Classical music - although I'm not much in the way of an Opera - not sure how one aquires the taste for an Opera. The Classical Composers are interesting as well, I'm partical for cultural music as well - particularly something which is folk orientated. You could perhaps blame Pete Seeger & Harry Belafonte for that!!
