Just went to see The Black Keys perform live at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, IL tonight, with opening act The Greenhornes. And I will start off by saying, it was a FANTASTIC experience. I had never seen a concert at the Aragon previous to this one, and the ballroom is absolutely lovely. With the starry-night sky painted on the ceiling, and drink stations at every corner, it was an extremely welcoming environment. But, that's not why I'm here. The band The Black Keys, (a blues-rock guitar/drum duo similar to The White Stripes) performed a fantastic show. Lights and all. The drummer, Patrick Carney, was hoisted up with his drumset towards the front of the stage, right next to singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach. With the way he was moving with the limited space he had with his drumset, you could tell he was excited, and having a fantastic time performing. Dan moved around everywhere on stage; jumping off of things, performing guitar solos while running, etc. Which I give him much credit for. With general admission, even having a place towards the back of the crowd was an excellent experience. There was enough breathing room, where you could enjoy the concert, drink soda/(or beer :cheers2) and just chat with your friends at the same time. They had a giant sign of lights in the back that spelled out the band's name, that they lit up while playing the final song of the encore performance, "Your Touch". The Black Keys are a fantastic band to see live, for a very affordable price. Recommended highly by me. :)
