I struggled with this issue as a young adult, but have since learned my lesson. I no longer have an issue with practicing belief after having done so much research on the difference between Eastern and Western culture and history. At some point, I simply realized that I could learn more from my own cultural values than I could by escaping towards an alternative system of beliefs. Besides, my grandparents lived by the same values at any rate. I'm not insulted by heretical or hypocritical mindsets.
