On September 25, 1967.....The Beatles began recording the new Paul McCartney song ‘The Fool on the Hill’ at Abbey Road, London. John and George played harmonicas, Paul played a recorder and recorded his lead vocal and Ringo played drums.

It was included on the Magical Mystery Tour album and album, and presented in the Magical Mystery Tour film, with a promotional sequence shot near Nice, in France from 30–31 October 1967.

Cool, I always wondered if 'The Fool On The Hill' was about The Mahrashi ? Now then ? Who was it about ?

John ? :heheh: :hmm:??

If F.O.H. was recorded in 67 ? It couldn't be..because they didn't go to India til the summer of 1968..

any theories , who is Fool On The Hill about ?

However , Sexy Sadie WAS about The Mahrashi, John really was pissed off/ and felt betrayed..

I dunno who Fool on the Hill was written about, but I know I had a classmate that fit the bill of the "Fool" perfectly. Even down to the fact that this kid played the flute, and there was a flute solo in that song. Cannot listen to it without remembering him. Which is a tad freaky.

As for the actual fool, "Glass Onion" states that, as of the White Album, he lives in there still. Tbh, I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually just some grumpy old opinionated fellow that happened to live on a hill :heheh: Be the sort of thing the Beatles would do.

"Fool On The Hill" could have been written about the Maharishi. John, Paul and George had already gone to an evening seminar. All four then went on a weekend retreat which was cut short when they were informed about Brian Epstein's passing. "Magical Mystery Tour" was the first project they did after Brian died.

Anyone else looking forward to the George Harrison documentary? It airs on HBO this week over two nights, Oct. 5th and 6th (Wed. and Thurs.) at 9:00pm. I can't wait.

I'll have to keep my eye out for it. It will probably air at some ridiculous time on some no name channel out here, to avoid it clashing with the 70000000th re-running of Two and a Half Men, Top Gear, Futurama or Mythbusters

George Harrison

February 25, 1943 / November 29, 2001

October 3, 1968 The Beatles were working at Trident Studios in London. They recorded the new George Harrison song ‘Savoy Truffle’. George, Paul, and Ringo recorded just one take of the basic track (drums, bass, and lead guitar). The song was inspired by Eric Clapton's love of chocolates, particularly Mackintosh's Good News.

"Savoy Truffle on The White Album was written for Eric. He's got this real sweet tooth and he'd just had his mouth worked on. His dentist said he was through with candy. So as a tribute I wrote, 'You'll have to have them all pulled out after the Savoy Truffle'. The truffle was some kind of sweet, just like all the rest - cream tangerine, ginger sling - just candy, to tease Eric.

On October 4, 1969.....'Abbey Road' went to No.1 on the UK chart. The final studio recordings from the group featured two George Harrison songs 'Something' and 'Here Comes The Sun' plus 'Come Together', 'Sun King' and 'Golden Slumbers.' The cover supposedly contained clues adding to the ‘Paul Is Dead’ phenomenon: Paul is barefoot and the car number plate ‘LMW 281F’ supposedly referred to the fact that McCartney would be 28 years old if he was still alive. ‘LMW’ was said to stand for ‘Linda McCartney Weeps.’

And the four Beatles, represent; the priest (John, dressed in white), the Undertaker (Ringo in a black suit), the Corpse (Paul, in a suit but barefoot), and the Gravedigger (George, in jeans and a denim work shirt).

Hmm maybe ? I always thought was about him {Maharashi} But they didn't go onthe retreat til 68 and the song was recorded before that..i think Feldster..might be right too..maybe a composite of people in their lives ? I even thought it might be Brian Epstein ? they had quirky relationship with him ?
