There is something magical in the build up of this song….slow, mellow, acoustical with a flute to boot changing to an in your face hard rock Masterpiece with an epic solo.

I just realized that maybe ownership and royalties has much to do with it but commercially you are more likely to hear “Highway To Hell”

I listen to classic rock 97.1 in Chicago and they play both but it seeems Stairway is always being played.

My bet is due to licensing you will more often hear “Highway To Hell” on tv shows during October in the US, when some badass appears in a movie, for comedic effect when some old guy or a baby thinks he’s a badass, in a handful of Marvel movies,
I mean when was the last time you heard Stairway To Heaven at a wedding reception?
I prefer Stairway but I would wager Highway has had much more exposure. Especially considering the lawsuit.
