To many of us, Sonny & Cher Bono were a mainstay of our childhood. They had a couple of very popular TV shows, The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour along with The Sonny & Cher Show, and many charted hits like "I Got You Babe" and "The Beat Goes On". This pop rock duo had an outstanding comedy vibe on stage and a very successful music career, selling 80 million records worldwide. Sadly, though, a divorce ended the career of the duo, at which time Cher went on to become a successful solo artist and Sonny went into Politics.

Their first album, which is a collaboration with other artists was released in 1965 and reached #69 on the Billboard 200.

Also in 1965, they released what I consider thier first Debut album:

This album contained the hit "I Got You Babe"

Oh I guess I should mention, Sonny Bono was a fantastic song writer. Quite a few of the songs on the Debut are written by him including both songs in the videos I posted.

Re: Sonny & Cher

I remember watching numerous bands play on their old TV show, but I am not a big fan of their music.

One thing is certain, Cher had way more talent than Sonny.:D

Re: Sonny & Cher

The only duet that should have been named a Hurricane after..
So sad that Sonny died like he did..
Always loved Cher..
Those two were like the Rat pack.. without the cheese..

It sucked that a tree was Sonny's demise...

Re: Sonny & Cher

For those who hate autotune remember that Cher made it popular! :D

Believe

That should give Bono the edgew for likability! :grinthumb

Anyway, any duo that could make a lovey dovey hippy song rocking enough for metalheads Beavis and Butthead to cover must be pretty cool!

Re: Sonny & Cher

You're ignoring the detail that Sonny was the one who wrote their hits.

Nonetheless, Sonny & Cher are a duo I like.

:grinthumb

I don't have any of their albums Hep, and if you say Sonny wrote most of their hits, then I give him credit for that.

However Cher's solo career dwarfs anything musically that Sonny ever aspired to.

Thumper, if I remember he died in a freak skiing accident...
