Scary Monsters(And Super Creeps) - David Bowie

I haven't pulled this LP out in about 30 years or more. How would rate the album on a scale of 10?

I picked this one up on remastered vinyl just a few months ago and thus have sort of rediscovered the album - I hadn't listened to the album for years before that. I wouldn't call the album a classic, at least it was never one of my absolute favourite Bowie albums. I'm somewhere between very good and superb, which I guess means excellent.

I voted excellent cause i dig GE Smith , probably one of the most underrated guitarists out there. I dont think Stevie Ray couldve pulled this album off.

4. Poor. A mashup of a glamy-funky new wave. The only highlight is "Ashes to Ashes". A couple of other tracks are OK and the rest is very grating. Even Robert Fripp couldn't save this album. The precursor for "Modern Love" and "Let's Dance" as this is the point that Bowie wanted to be Wham.

I remember when Lodger came out I thought...might be time for Bowie and I to part, just didn't click for me. Then came Scary Monsters...a return to form! Almost as much fun as Young Americans, yet with an underlying disturbance that demands repeated listens to explore. One of the traits I enjoy from his earlier "classic" works. Alas, this would prove to be the last album that I truly like in full.
