Black Sabbath is a great album by any standard, but I would find it much harder to compare with In Rock, Fireball, Machine Head or Perfect Strangers.

Black Sabbath. I don't own any Purple studio albums pre In Rock. I think I would need to hear them first.

The pre-In Rock albums are better than you might think. Rod Evans joined Captain Beyond, whose first album is great.

Black Sabbath. It's a great album. In general I prefer Purple to Sabbath, though.
