Went to see Robin Trower Tuesday 6-20 at House of Blues. Played as a four piece with a good band. Not familiar with his entire catalog but know enough to be more than a casual fan. Played a lot from Bridge of Sighs (5 songs-Day of the Eagle, Too Rolling Stoned, Lady Love, A Little Bit Of Sympathy and the title track). Other highlights for me were Victims of the Fury and the show closer Daydream. It was cool to end the show with a mellow tune with some tasteful guitar. When it ended he simply bowed and walked off stage. He truly milks every note and can tear into some supreme psychadelic blues. It was my second time seeing him and he didn't disappoint. He likes his wah pedal and I don't know, but he may have had a treble booster cause some of his solos were screaming with controlled feedback. He's a very cool player. Played the same sunburst Strat throughout the entire show. Definately getting up there in age though (looks like a grandpa up there) but still played inspired. Great show all around.

back in the day, there used to be a lot of "is he better than Hendrix?" type of talk. just because... well, if you've heard him, you know why. 'Bridge of Sighs' really is a pretty wonderful record. In fact, I haven't dug any of that stuff out for quite a while. His playing really puts me in a certain frame of mind. What a terrific and emotional player!

I'm also envious. One of the great guitarists for sure. Thanks for the write-up of the show. :)

it really is. really, truly, honest-to-godly is.

the only other robin trower (not counting his earlier bandly self) i have is victims of the fury. a lotta folk slag on it, but i think it's pretty kickass, too.

i've never seen him live.

dammit, i need to go to a concert. it's been over a year.
