I've been hearing this group at work on the radio lately and wondered if anyone here was a fan. Which album to get? Is the latest one worth getting beyond these two songs? Any info will help and thanks in advance. I've had their latest in my hands at least twice to buy but just couldn't do it without hearing more or getting some thumbs up from someone who listens to them regularly. I'm liking what I hear so far, but my CD budget is severly limited so again, I need info.:D

Thanks!

They are a bit too extreme for my tastes, Evans......So I cant help you. Wait till Comfortably Numb gets here, he will enlighten you, I am sure.

Okay, thanks anyway. I'll wait. I have done some research about the band and they seem to be really into being "Green" and IIRC, vegan/vegetarian, (I can never figure out the difference) and their politics definitely lean left if not downright socialist/communist. Which doesn't bother me too much. I lean a little left myself.:D

BTW, thanks for moving this to the proper forum. I wasn't sure.:grinthumb

Revolutions per Minute is my favorite album by them, but if you are just getting into them The Sufferer & the Witness is the best album to get.

Good band, not one of my top favorite punk band, but they are good.

I'm a fan too, and I agree with The Sufferer And The Witness as a first choice, I feel it's a more balanced album than their others (Though I'm yet to listen through Appeal To Reason)

My personal favourite is Siren Song Of The Counter Culture :grinthumb

Rise Against is alright with me. They're certainly have more personality to their music and sound than most other modern bands, especially punk bands. Though that being said I can only take so much of them at a time since practically all their songs sound to the same to me....a curse that befalls far too many punk rock groups.

I find that with any band, the more you listen to them the more you can distinguish between songs, and since Rise Against are up there with my most played, I can spot the differences easier than someone who is new to their music..

(Plus on top of that, they've written a couple of ballads too :D)

Well I'd be lying if I said I was more than a casual listener to their work....though I do own "The Sufferer & the Witness" and "Siren Song of the Counter Culture".
I can notice differences in their songs, but they are no greater than those between say...The Ramones' or Motörhead's songs. If it's not broke then why fix it right?
