Hi everybody

I have had some progress on my unknown song number 2.

In the chorus there is a line where they sing "I'm going over the fence", and I tried a search at Itunes store for the words "over the fence". One of the songs that came up was the right song but wrong artist. The song was "Over the Fence" with Greg "Fingers" Taylor from a CD called Reunion - Live at the Windjammers. I am though quite sure that he is not my artist as his voice is too different. He also recorded it on a studio album called Chest Pains.

Some further research revealed that he has collaborated with Tim Krekel and that Tim Krekel had a band called the Sluggers that released an album 1986 called Over the Fence, where the first song was, yes, "Over the Fence".

Unfortunately I can't find any sound samples of the Sluggers version, nor Greg "Fingers" Taylor's version on Chest Pains, but I am now about 80% sure that the song I have is the Sluggers.

I attach a ca one minute sound sample of my recording so that anyone who thinks that they recognize it can tell which version it is.

Thanks everybody

From what I'm finding, I don't believe the Tim Krekel or Sluggers albums were ever released on CD. 1986 is only a few years after CD's came out, so if they weren't fairly well-known bands (which I don't believe they were) they were probably only released on vinyl. That also means that you aren't going to find an mp3 or album available for download at any stores that sell mp3's. I think you're going to have to purchase a vinyl album to get the song. If you live in a city that has record stores, call and ask if they have the album and go to the store and have them play the song for you or see if they can do that over the phone. Maybe they would even let you send them your sample. Otherwise, you'll have to take a chance on the correct artist and order an album online.

Thanks for your reply, but I am mostly interested in finding out who the artist/s is/are. I have had some negative experience with buying records just on the strength of one ore two songs.

For example, I bought The Go-Go's first record just because I liked "Our Lips Are Sealed". "We Got the Beat" was OK, but the rest was less so.

Or when I saw The Motels perform "Whose Problem Am I" and "Days Are OK" on a TV-show, liked it, and bought their record Careful. Those two songs turned out to be the best songs on the record, in my opinion.

So, if anyone has a sample of The Sluggers version of "Over the Fence", please post it here. In that way I can hear if it is the same as mine.

Cheers
