John Prine, who for five decades wrote rich, plain-spoken songs that chronicled the struggles and stories of everyday working people and changed the face of modern American roots music, died Tuesday at Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was 73. The cause was complications related to COVID-19
John was one of my all-time favourite songwriters and I'm absolutely devastated by this news, however, unfortunately, not surprised. I knew he'd been in ICU since March 26. He had pneumonia in both lungs and had also developed some peripheral issues. Yet, you always hope for a small miracle, but it wasn't to be. R.I.P. John. You truly were one of a kind.
