Hi guys

Excuse the sexism but I am guessing that most of you are, guys that is! (flame coming!!)

Just found the forum and thought it would be my cup of tea as I heven't istened to anything new since 1989 - not quite but almost. I like all the old favourites: Led Zep; Floyd; The Who; AC/DC; Genesis; Yes; Queen; Bad Co. etc. as well as the newer 'classics' like U2 (I bought the October album when I was 20 and STILL think its a great little LP); XTC (not sure how well represented they will be here!), Blur, Oasis; Radiohead; and also got a soft spot for Supergrass.

Got a 14 year old son who is MORE into classic rock than I am. His fav bands are Aerosmith, Guns N Roses (Slash is a big hero) and AC/DC. We went to see Aerosmith at the O2 last week, his first 'proper' gig and he thought Joe Perry was 'awesome'. And I swear with the exception of there being some vinyl and CD's around I wasn't any influence at all - in fact I never had an Aerosmith album before he influenced me! - Its the power of the net - everything, anytime.

Looking forward to reading the threads and agreeing with a lot of old farts that music was better back then!!

Steve

Welcome, I shall call you AM! :D

All of the first set of bands excluding Bad Company are favourites of mine as well, and to answer your question, XTC get a pretty moderate amount of attention around here, although I think they're pretty cool as well! I hope to see you around the place :)

(BTW despite the effeminacy of my username I am in fact a male)

Welcome AM. That is so cool that your son is into classic rock and you saw Aerosmith with him. ROCK ON!
