Ozzy: I’d Never Have Removed Daisley And Kerslake From Albums

Ozzy Osbourne has said he was against the idea of replacing Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake’s work on his first two solo albums.

In 2002, bassist Daisley and drummer Kerslake were removed from the Blizzard Of Ozz and Diary Of A Madman albums, after they took legal action for unpaid royalties. Their parts were replaced by Robert Trujillo and Mike Bordin respectively.

Ozzy told Pulse Radio: “Believe me, it wasn’t my doing. I mean, I didn’t know that was being done, ’cause Sharon (Osbourne) was fighting all the legal things that were going down at the time. I said, ‘What did you do that for?’ And she said, ‘The only way I could stop everything was if it went to that level.’ And I said, ‘You know what, whatever the circumstances were, I want the original thing back.’ I mean, I wouldn’t have done that.”

The original recordings are being restored for the 30th anniversary reissues of these iconic albums. These are due out later in 2010.

That speaks to his credit he didn't want it removed, but it's also troubling that he didn't know what the eff was going on with his own music and/or didn't wield enough power to stop it. Almost makes it feel like a marketing scheme of sorts.

Yea, Ozzy's lack of knowledge baffles me. Not to mention 8 years has gone by since they re-recorded "Blizzard of Ozz" and "Diary of a Madman" to remove Daisley and Kerslake.

Seems like the saying "A little too late" applies to restoring them on a remaster, actually.

Which is precisely why I nominated Sharon for the biggest jerk in rock in the other thread ongoing.

She admitted doing this to spite those poor bastards and put an end to the issue of royalties, this after she more or less booted them out of the band to begin with.

I guess it is several years too late but at least Ozzy has finally decided to "right" this "wrong."

No kidding. Ozzy's general lack of business knowledge is startling for someone who has been around as long as he has.

Trust me, you wouldn't catch the wife of Gene Simmons pulling that type of nonsense with Kiss recordings and him being clueless about it until the product is in the stores.

Same goes for any woman married to Steven Tyler, Jon Bon Jovi or one of the guys in Metallica. Just wouldn't happen.

Sharron Osbourn is a nasty cvnt. Ozzy didn't write the lyrics or the music to those albums, and the BAND was called Blizzard of Oz. It wasn't the title of Ozzy's solo album. Yet that goof gets all the credit.

Screw You fatty. I'm not much of a fan of yours anymore, and a lot of it has to do with this.
