Hello everyone,

I didn't start listening to music(English) until the age of 16. I started off by listening to Linkin Park. My friends listened to a lot of rap. Since there was a little bit of rock in Linkin Park (Mike Shinoda's rap aside), i kickstarted with it.

Since rock wasn't much popular around, I had to discover the music myself. Following Linkin Park, I started listening to some Christian Rock such as "Jars of Clay", "Skillet", "Kutless".....they were pretty good but still wasn't getting me in the mood. I wanted more Rock, that which gets you pumping. Ofcourse (You would have guessed)at that time I was against Metallica, AC/DC, Iron Maiden (thought they preached violence and filth). I remember the only hard rock tracks I used to listen was Bon Jovi (pls dont ask why??). There were times when i saw a Nirvana live performance of Lithium, and saw Kurt Cobain's guitar destruction act and I was like....seriously???

However,
It was not until college that i truly discovered ROCK. Came across "Sweet Child of mine" (Gn'R) by accident. And then a friend of mine introduced me to Gn'R. And then began my transition. All that was needed was a small step to discover. Following guns n roses, my experiments began to continue. I watched more live performances. Got that feel for ROCK (you know headbanging, air guitaring), didnt take a lot of time to get in the mood.

Watched a few music documentaries Iron Maiden: Flight 666, Metal: A headbangers journey, It might get loud. Truly it was out of curiosity that i watched these. Just wanted to know how the artists were off- stage. (Seriously i was hoping for devil worship...c'mon 666). But ofcourse i realised that i was only blindfolded till now. They were just as ordinary as any of us, just popular, of course there are a few band exceptions(norwegian death metal and stuff).

It just took me a period of one year to truly discover ROCK. I am a lover of Classic Rock, Sorry guys, the more harder rock gets, the less interested i am.
My range spans only from Blues (Chuck Berry, Johnny Cash)to Metallica. I did try hardcore metal, but not my type.....I am a RocknRolla'

Bands I listen to:
Old:
Gn'R
Led Zeppelin
ZZ Top
Nirvana
AC/DC
Metallica
Iron Maiden
Deep Purple
Hendrix

New:
AlterBridge
Wolfmother
Foo Fighters

I am just a year old rocker, so pls community if you have suggestions for me plz do comment......Thank You ( i have been truly honest)

Friends of mine still dont listen to AC/DC (It's antichrist they say)

I wouldn't say no rock, but listening to rock music is not mainstream here in India.

C'mon how many rock performances have we had here.
