I love Silvertide but I have yet to listen to Anna Nalick. I've heard a lot of good things about her.

In a state of deep, deep fascination
The Secret Machines are a great band that I saw live a couple of months ago. They have a stripped down sound with lots of spacing in their songs, and it all revolves around the big sound coming from the drummer.

Just got a CD by a group called Ladytron called Witching Hour. Great if you like electronica.

My new favorite is Death Cab For Cutie, from Bellingham, WA, and their song, "Soul Meets Body". Great tune about what you want is not always what you can get, but hopefully maybe something will come along soon. The name alone is pretty clever and cool.

Well the style is a little bit more pop & produced for my taste (considering that my favorite style right now is raw & primitive) but IMHO the insturmentation is gorgeous and the lyrics are brilliant. :D I need to see her live though, I hear her band rocks. I'm hoping she'll eventually do some kind of a really heavy song, just for novelty's sake if nothing else, cause I heard she was in a heavy metal band a while back. I've also heard that it was a Rush cover band... Anyway she's really good-looking too...

Yeah and Silvertide is totally awesome IMO. Their album is wonderful and I've heard a few songs not on the usual Show And Tell (Adult Child, Beware, and Jet Lag) and they're excellent so I know they've got more good material.

One of my new faves - Oranger with their latest album New Comes and Goes. They're a band out of San Francisco and I've been following them since they opened for R.E.M. on their European tour in 2003. My favorite of their albums would probably be Shut Down The Sun.

So who have you discovered lately? Doesn't have to be a new band or anything. Just an artist you never listened to and just recently got into.

Two via Rhapsody. The Merman, a psychedelic surf music group, meeting at the intersection of Jimi Hendrix Drive and Dic****k Dale Blvd.

The second was The Drive-By Truckers. Think "Copperhead Road" by Steve Earle and you're in the ballpark; it's a bit like Hank Williams, Jr. too. Radical leftist politically, there are some songs that are just diatribes against whatever they are against, but when they hit the mark, they are dead on. The salute "Danko/Manuel" is a track I played four times in a row the other night--just stunning in its breadth and grasp.

Ok, I appreciate a profanity filter as much as the next guy--maybe more--but to have the nickname for Richard clipped there is a bit much for even me! :D

Finally heard some Anna Nalick. Rather like her and will definitely have to get some of her CDs.

Also getting into a group called The Silver Jews. They've got a new release out called Tanglewood Numbers. Lots of great new stuff being released as of late. Also got Jackson Browne's Solo Acoustic, Vol. I. Feeling a bit nostalgic tonight so it's been playing a lot on my player.
