Need help finding a song

I used to listen to this in my parents' living room.

The song was about going to work in a factory in bleak conditions, having to be on time, punching the clock... and the chorus always contained something like:

"at somthing and sons"

Something sounded like alfred, or mumford or something.

Needle in a haystack?

Thanks Phil...may have actually been 70's? Sounded a lot like a Cat Stevens tune.

Searched and searched but nothing quite fits the bill. There's a fair few songs about working in a factory, but I couldn't find any with "at ... & sons" in the lyrics.
