^^I concur the debut album is one of the best ever done, nice to see another young fan appreciate what was always a band that sort of flew under the radar.:hab:

Please gang forgive me ive just picked up their first album-I see where van halen get their sound from lol............

That was from Ted Templeman, who produced the first Montrose and most Van Halen albums, also he worked with the Doobies (you'll hear that great sound of his on tracks like China Grove)

^^I always thought Sammy was better in Montrose than he was in Van Halen. If you like Montrose check out Ronnie's other band "Gamma". The first three albums are very good.

^^I agree I never liked Sammy in VH, he wasn't terrible but it just never sounded as good as DLR's vocals. That is the big question, I can't swear to it but there were rumblings Eddie was less than impressed with Dave's vocals on some songs when they were on tour last year. Not surprising really, vocalists put a lot of miles on their equipment and nothing lasts forever. Even Pavarotti had problems in the latter stages of his career.
