Metallica’s ‘Black Album’ Earns 16th Platinum Certificate

Black Album was the end of an era. It signified that the Thrash movement of the mid/late 80's was DEAD. Any "extreme metal fan" moved on to Death Metal, Pop Punk, etc. Grunge is often sited as "the death of Thrash," but in reality the Thrash Bands had stopped playing Thrash Metal... see Black Album, Exodus' Force Of Habit, Kreator's Renewal, etc. The list goes on and on.

I agree LG Metallica weren't selling out by doing this album, they weren't even selling out apart from concert venues as Newsted pointed out.
