He's easily the worst part of both projects lol, but I prefer the music made with the KD band, both the original guys, and the current lineup.

There's a KD Discography Discussion Thread going on here..

This is hard for me to answer because Melissa & Don’t Break the Oath are quintessential albums by MF. Bone chilling vocals.

But I do listen to KD albums more often….i like the creepy, gothic, ghost story type vibe, but I do cringe sometimes at his voice. Abigail, Them, Conspiracy are all really good.

For the sake of making a choice, I will give the nod to King solo.

Believe it or not, twice in the span of 8 weeks in late 1988, KD came to Providence on the Them tour. I left both shows after the opening bands (Armored Saint...and for the other show it was Flotsam & Jetsam).
I simply was not into his shtick at all. The face paint, the voice, the whole vibe.

And yes...I regret it.

I did listen to Melissa and DBTO early on (as in when they came out), but as a teen, it just didn't interest me. Not sure if it was the subject matter, likely so.

I actually love The Puppet Master and that's my favorite album by him. I also am partial to GMYS...P, as he's more in his lower register for these two albums.
He's an amazing songwriter and artist, but I still really don't like his voice.

I fully understand how that creepy vibe is off putting. To this very day, I have never explored Marilyn Manson or Rob Zombie because I feel just their very essence is too extreme for me..

But I do like King Diamond, creepy vibe and face paint included. Same goes for others with a haunting stage presence, like Ghost & Gwar.
