Very cool and excellent job on the detailed video review!
I've realized I have a sort of odd perspective on Countdown to Extinction. I remember when a guy I worked with at the time first loaned it to me to listen to, somewhere back in the mid to late 90's, it was not only the first Megadeth album I had ever listened to (so no other Megadeth for me to compare it to) but at the time I also hadn't listened to any Metallica album in its entirety. Some time later I would pick up the "black album". I had no clue about Dave having been in Metallica or that there was some sort of Megadeth/Metallica rivalry going on.
All that said, I really enjoyed the album the first time I heard it and felt the music stood up very well on its own minus the knowledge of whatever *DRAMA* might have been going on behind the scenes and minus any comparisons that logically would have been made. I still feel the same way about the album now.
In spite of Symphony of Destruction being the big "hit" song and getting overplayed on the radio ... I can't help it ... that is still one of my favorite tracks on the album. The guitar riff gets me and I have some fond memories of singing along on that song when I saw Megadeth in 2007.
