Re: Marianne Faithful

She definitely has a unique voice, Broken English is about the only album that I know of her discography, but if I remember correctly she was dating Hendrix and Jagger back in the day.

Re: Marianne Faithful

She was actually Mick Jagger's girlfriend from late 1966 to 1970. The lyrics to "Wild Horses" were written about her. She was a real beauty before the drugs took their toll:

I'd say that "Broken English" from 1979 is her best album:

But I also like her early singles such as this one:

Summer Nights

Re: Marianne Faithful

Holy Crap! I guess smoking does take a toll on your vocals. I knew she gotten ugly but I didn't know what a sweet voice she had before. I first heard her on the Metallica song

The Memory Remains

In which she added that really cool but definitely not sweet vocal at the end! It's worth anyone listening to for the very few who haven't heard that song just to hear the difference! :wtf:

Re: Marianne Faithful

Marianne Faithful was an lovely creature in her day.
Her relationship with The Rolling Stones brought her some unique opportunities and sometimes poor choices.

Imo, the one woman Mick Jagger truly loved..if he is able to do so (the Ole Dawg :heheh:) His heartfelt Wild Horses is what makes me feel this way..He wrote a very openly loving and devoted love song for her...

too bad substance abuse robbed her looks/voice/and her Mick too..
Her talents weren't half bad and I really love this song she made in recent years with the Irish band The Chieftains..of of the Album 'Long Black Veil' The Chieftains

Re: Marianne Faithful

Such a classy and beautiful lass she was. Imagine being in the Stones's inner circle and having people like Marianne and Anita Pallenberg hanging around? Wow. It's a shame drugs took their toll but at least she managed to survive it all.

For me, Broken English remains her masterpiece.

Re: Marianne Faithful

'Couple intesting points before this idylic phase of her life and life with George Harrison ended. Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull came to their house one night. Jagger wrote on the Harrison’s wall: Mick and Marianne were here. Strange action for guests. The only thing I can figure is that Mick was marking out the limits of his territory like one of the big cats who go around peeing on bushes to set up their territory. '

*taken from a review of 'You Look Wonderful Tonight' by Patti Boyd

It's a bit silly , but I love that story:cheers2

Mick and Marianne were a very hip couple in that era..I don't believe he was marking his terriory tho' !

It was just young foolish kids in love ..being naughty. Not unusual in those days !
