Looking For A Song/Video Something About Finding The Door

Looking for an OLD song...I believe from the early 90's. Can't think of the band...but the song was about the singers sister and about her life to get better. To find a door. The lyrics said that..not sure if it's the exact words or girls name but something like Janie Find The Door...or Will You Find The Door....c'mon muic fans help me.

It's a song about when you come across a door that's not open you keep searching for the door that's open. I remember the singer being interviewed and saying this...I can't remember the singer, the band or the song. LOL! But the song IS about a girl...has a girls name in the lyrics.....then "Find The Door" or "Wil You Find The Door" or something like that

I've searched and searched but not come up with anything that I think it would be. Can you remember if the singer was male or female?

The singer WAS male...I rememeber he was gay...his sister had a hard life. His message in the song was if you find a door that's not open you don't give up and keep searching for the open door. Or a door that's open. The song had the sister's name but not sure what it was. I can see the video in my head though. Ugggg
