I picked up The Great Cold Distance, it has the most melodic moments of most albums but they do it so well. Absolutely brilliant mix of melody, brutal riffing. I really love this band and cannot wait for Dead End Kings which reminds me here is Dead Letters the new track.

I've had Dead Letters on repeat ever since I heard it.

And it is really good. I would say it is a bit different with the symphonic elements .
Loved the track Buildings.

I don't get the fuss with Katatonia's new release. It's the same spot Opeth were at with Ghost Reveries or Deliverance. It's not terrible but it's over hyped in my opinion.

Disagreed, I think it sounds fantastic the new album. Then again I thoroughly loved Opeths new album too. Katatonia have always put out consistently good albums. This new one does sound a bit different but that is good to see a band try something different. Dead End Kings is up on my top 10 albums of 2012 list.

^ Indeed they pretty much been putting out good stuff. I actually like this album much better than their previous (The Night Is the New Day), but my favorite album by them has always been Last Fair Deal Gone Down.

Last Fair Deal was terrific. My favourite is Discouraged Ones.
