Thought I would start a small thread for a friend of mine here. As some of you may know I was in a melodic metal band at one time (with tons of hair) that was managed by John Hunter. (and I brought his name up in my American Bandstand thread)

I still remember the day he came down to meet us all and I was nervous because I was a 14 year old kid once who bought his album "Puttin On The Dog" in the late 70's when he was with...

They were a hard rockin' act who did a killer version of Doo Wah Diddy...but I liked the tune Angel Of Fire.

After the HOUNDS he ventured out solo with the help of a couple HOUND bandmates and had success with the number one hit Tragedy! Which he performed on American Bandstand and was featured in the hit television show Moonlighting with Bruce Willis.

As stated..no matter how our friendship grew over time.I would still ask him to put those performances on the tube for me when I would visit..HAHA!! He's such a cool and humble guy and still not far from me.

To think I was nervous upon first meeting and now to feel like we're old friends is pretty special..he took me many cool places like up to Royal Recorders in Wisconsin where I met Adrian Belew and spent a lovely visit at Jim Peterick's (Survivor/Ides Of March) home. That was a fun time.

I guess because we had gotten so close that it doesn't seem like I would need to mention him here on a classic rock forum but..NOT TRUE!

Being signed to Columbia Records and being on the road and performing with Nazareth,REO to Graham Nash to Judas Priest (that's kind of rounds it off) :heheh: ...I felt my bud here deserved a mention.

It was fun being a fan of John's music as a kid but much greater having him as a friend!

John if you ever see this thread? Love ya bro!!

Thanks Lord..you know you just don't think about it like I said..to do a thread for someone like this..because to me now he's just..."John" a "what's up" dude.

But he offered his fair share to the world of rock music and should be tributed!! (IMO)

Before we got to know each other he made growing up alot of fun and helped me crank the speakers as good as the next band!

If anyone would like to hear my favorite song "ANGEL OF FIRE" (I love this tune) you can check it out here at the Official HOUNDS Myspace page.

It's the 5th song on the player before Do Wah Diddy Diddy!Enjoy!! There's also a good bio history there as well. :grinthumb

I grew up in the Chicagoland area so I remember John Hunter and The Hounds from the radio. Didn't The Hounds do a cover of "Under My Thumb" too?

You did? Did you ever tell me that? How cool!

Yeah Under My Thumb was on Puttin' On The Dog :grinthumb

John is a cool guy...before my wife and I saw the Hounds reunion some years back that he invited me to he was on the radio again with another Chicago legend. :grinthumb

Steve Dahl, right?

Yeah, I grew up in Kankakee - lived there until I was 25, then moved to Texas.

Finally caught up and played the songs you posted MP.

I LOVE "Alleys of Love", that is a great song, and Tragedy the first one was really good.

Must be nice to get together with your old friends and reminisce about the early days.

I hope your friend reads this thread, I am sure he would enjoy it.
