quote -

This superb set pulls together material from Jethro Tull concerts across their career and filmed at some of their many stopovers around the globe. It reaches back as far as the legendary Isle Of Wight Festival in 1970 and as recently as the Estival in Lugano, Switzerland in 2005. Much of the material is previously unreleased. The set is packaged in a 19cm x 14cm 32 page hardback book with 2 discs in each inside cover. The book contains photos from Ian Anderson s personal archive and a text on all the different shows by Joel McIver. Around The World Live charts Jethro Tull s ever evolving music through blues to rock to folk to electronica with a frequently changing line-up anchored by the ever present frontman Ian Anderson. Disc 1: Isle Of Wight 1970 / Tampa 1976 / Munich 1980 Disc 2: Dortmund 1982 / Loreley 1986 / Santiago 1996 Disc 3: Hilversum 1999 / London 2001 / Montreux 2003 Disc 4: Lugano 2005

finally there will be an article soon in record collector about passion play with comments by ian anderson.

please excuse the lower case - keyboard is about to go awol :wa

I don't really see much point in remixing Benefit, to me the album sound good as it is.

New Proggy/Folky/Metally Ian Anderson? Slightly worried how it is sound like.

I respect Steve Wilson a lot but I have almost all of Tull's best records on vinyl now so I'll probably pass on the remixes. But I'm happy they've done an update on Passion Play, it got tagged as 'overindulgent' by just about everyone back in the day but I've always liked it.

If anyone can pull off a hybrid of prog/metal/folk it's Ian, but I would really like to see Martin Barre involved if it's a Tull album, otherwise release it as a solo Anderson album.

They always were prog/folk/metal. I don't see the issue unless they mean some metal sub genre?

Well, AROUND THE WORLD is worth having for the music, but NOT for the picture quality.... Yes it´s really bad, well at least half of the collection is.When it comes to BENEFIT, I think that it really need some sort of cleaning up, so I will buy it along with Martins unplugged versions of Tull classics. Then we´ll have to wait until Easter 2014 ( If we´re lucky ) before we can get our hands on the new Anderson epic.

Around The World Live

Well the video quality is poor on most of the early material. The Tampa show is third generation at best, there are early versions of this that are far superior in quality. Most all of this material has been out in some way be "un official" or officially released. I found that the booklet that came with it the best part of the set. IMO.

Can't wait for the new album if the last one is anything to go by. Don't think I will buy the new remixes as I have all the album on CD remastered anyway and they sound good to me. Don't think I will bother with the DVD set either, I have a couple of live DVD's so that is enough for me.
