I prefer Jeff's version of "The Star Spangled Banner" to that performed by Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock. The notes come out more clearly in Jeff's version. Jimi employed far too much distortion.
I wish I'd have grown up in the 60's (like 15 years old in 1965), Jeff Beck wouldve been one of my favorite guitarists. I didnt really get into his stuff until "Wired" and Blow By Blow". I'm a big fan of the Yardbirds and I like his solo music, the instrumental stuff and vocal stuff. Not a huge fan of his wierd stuff in the 2000's.
Some crunchin' Jeff Beck group from his often overlooked early 70's budding journey into jazz/rock/fusion. Some excellent footage with the legendary Cozy Powell on drums.
he's my favourite guitar player and i have some of his records. don't have them all as some of his stuff i can't stand!
every year or so i'll listen to blow by blow and wired, just to see if the'll get me, but they don't, far too jazzy.
i love there and back, which was the album that got me into him. thats about as much jazz/rock i can handle.
love guitar shop, which also has about the best cover ever.
when i bought the album 4 albums ago[not good at remembering details like titles sometimes] i was amazed. he reinvented himself with that kind industrial sound. it was fresh.
the next one was also great.
the next one was good, not great.
however the last one i bought then got rid of. basically it made me want to spew up!!!
i found it just so predictable and boring. the previous two were fantastic and new sounding, this one i think he played safe.
i just hope he can get my interest up with the next one.
he's the only one of the big 3 that makes decent music. clapton plays the blues and page does nothing.
how can a creative guy like page not want to record and play live all the time? don't understand that whatsoever.
both of those consider beck to be the best in the world and i agree.
