Country Ghetto - J.J. Grey & Mofro

2007 - Alligator(US) CD

- J.J. Grey / vocals, guitars, keyboards, harmonica
- Andrew Trube / guitars
- Anthony Farrel / organ
- Todd Smallie / bass
- Art Edmaiston / saxophone
- Dennis Marion / trumpet
- Anthony Cole / drums

1. War
2. Circles
3. Country Ghetto
4. Tragic
5. By My Side
6. On palastine
7. Footsteps
8. Turpentine
9. A Woman
10. Mississippi

"Front porch soul and jookhouse funk." A raw meld of swampy funk, southern rock, old school R&B collar blues and down home roots rock 'n' roll. Greasy and very tasty.

Although it has some good songs on it (as all their albums do), this is one of my least enjoyable of their albums. I think that their debut Blackwater was the best realized album and that Lochloosa is them at their most heartfelt and laid back.

way to troll your own post. who are any of us oh mighty joe? lose the ego and come down off that high horse.

you post on an open forum, then expect a response. thats the way this works. if you dont want one, then dont post. i dont have to agree with you or disagree with you, and im not asking you to consider or reflect on anything just chiming in.

:oyea:

Go back under that rock you slithered from. You have responded to my posts in the past with worthless rhetoric. You show up here in once in a while and make basically no contributions as such. No worth or value what so ever. Why don't you stick around for awhile and be of substance? Are you scared? What seems to the be problem?

I think I can answer that.

No backbone. Fear. A troll. Indecisive. Indeterminable.

^^ He has. Unfortunately he is a bit overlooked and unfortunately some of his older releases are a bit hard to find, although they did re-issue some of them, to avoid people selling them overpriced on Ebay. Thankfully I do have all of them. His latest "Ol' Glory" is one of the best releases of 2015 imo.

^^ Yeah, Ebay is probably an option. I was lucky enough to find most of his older albums in the back of some obscure record store (I love those!). Bought them all right away!
