Back in the mid/late 80's I was somewhat into thrash metal. It started off with Metallica when I heard 'Phantom Lord' for the first time on "Metal Shop" on a Seattle rock station in 1983. The next weekend I picked up 'Kill 'Em All'(on the Banzai label) and was blown away by this 'new' sound of metal. 'Ride the Lightning' and 'Master of Puppets' were purchased upon immediate release.

Slayer's 'Reign In Blood' was the album that really got me interested in the genre and I'm still a big fan today. Megadeth to a lesser extent and Anthrax never caught my interest.

I did explore other artists during that time:

Possessed-Seven Churches
Testament-The Legacy and The New Order
Metal Church-s/t
Death Angel-Ultra-Violence
Annihilator-Alice In Hell
Exodus-Bonded by Blood
Sacrifice-Torment in Fire
Celtic Frost-Cold Lake
Voivod-Killing Technology and Nothingface

By the 90's, I for some reason(s) lost interest in the music of thrash. Twenty years later I have the interest to hear more artists from today and 'back in the day'.

I wanted to ask the experts to recommend some thrash bands that I haven't heard. I'm not going into this totally deaf, though with an 'untrained ear'.

Let's see... not on your list would be Kreator, Sodom, Flotsam and Jetsam, Accept, Destruction, and Sepultura. Those are the big names that come to mind in Thrash.

If you dig Celtic Frost check out some black thrash like Aura Noir, Venom, Bathory. Venom & Bathory are definitely cursory for a 'full' metal education if you're into that kind of thing.
