^^Heck WetWilly you were Here in 2006...:heheh:

I'll have to listen to their debut and Second Helping before I can say which one I think is better, two very solid records out of the chute for Skynyrd though.

I know it looks as if this thread was started back in November '05. :) :cheers2

Yep, predates my arrival by over 4 years, I never met Martha Washington but have read a lot of his threads over the years.:cheers2

If ALL THINGS MUST PASS counts as Harrison's first album (there were two before it, but neither were in the rock idiom), then that's a great example of it all going downhill from there.

Marshall Crenshaw never reached the high point he touched on his debut self-titled album.

I won't go quite so far as saying Led Zeppelin's first is their BEST, but it is my FAVORITE.

Van Halen and Bad Company both had good albums after the debut, but none quite as good as that first blast.

Those come to mind readily, and I'm sure I could strain to think of others, but straining isn't on my agenda tonight.

I have to agree with Bad Company. The first album is by far their best.

Indeed, I never looked at his profile page Jake, but he was gone before Magic and I arrived. We did a thorough housecleaning and only kept the good threads, CRF circa 2009 till now is a new forum, at least to me anyway.:D

Going to say for me personally Silverchair. Frogstomp remains my favourite of their albums, even though I liked Freak Show it had some songs that I thought were just meh, didn't give a shit about them and after Freak Show I just stopped listening to them, did not like Neon Ballroom or after it. Anthem for the Year 2000 is the only song on Neon I liked. Basically I don't think Silverchair topped Frogstomp....for my personal perspective anyway it was the most consistent album. Yeah other albums got bigger acclaim and popularity but that does not necessarily make an album better to another few individuals such as myself. I think in terms of what the music does for me and consistency they did not top Frogstomp.

Bring on the haters.

The Beatles :D

But seriously, if we regard Deep Purple Mk II as a different band than the other incarnations, I think their "debut" Deep Purple In Rock is their tightest and best effort.

Some others:
Frank Zappa - Freak Out! (although this could be argued)
Santana - Santana (most intense songs)
Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden (I prefer Di'Anno to Dickinson and the songs are very consistent)
Jeff Beck - Truth (great song selection, awesome playing and revolutionary)

Huh, I was going to say the very first Deep Purple album. But it's too close to say.
