WHAT?

have you ever even heard 'electric ladyland'?

Yeah, I have to agree with this. "Electric Ladyland" was the only Jimi studio album I owned for a long time, so maybe I'm biased. But when I finally picked up "Are You Experienced?" last year, as great as it was, it just sounded like a collection of singles to me, whereas "Electric Ladyland" is a full blown sonic odyssey.

Allow me to disagree and agree. First, "Are You Experienced" is a lot more than a "collection of singles." I know how you feel about "back in the day" comments by old geezers ;) , but there is no way to decribe the impact that album had upon its release because it was so radically different than anything that had come before it. It was a revelation. Second, I agree that "Electric Ladyland" is a "full blown sonic odyssey" and ultimately the better album.

Oh, I agree. I know the impact AYE? had and I still think it features some incredible songs and performances. It just comes off as more of a "best of" to me, with some filler thrown in. The US version is stronger, but the disparate production styles bug me.

I will always prefer Cheap Trick's debut over any of the Pop-Rock offerings they offered later in their career . . .

Wow. Over 6 years between posts. Oh well, I wasn't around for the first run for this thread, so I'll stick my 2 cents worth in.

Van Halen & Boston have both been mentioned, as well as the Cars. (which I love, but I see I'm not the only one to love Candy-O more)

I don't believe I saw this one:

I can't say that about Foreigner as I like both Double Vision and Head Games better than their debut album.
