Greeting from Doncaster

Hi All,

Rock/Metal fan from Doncaster, interested in peoples views on gigs, vinyl and anything related.
Varied taste in bands, melodic to thrash with extensive and ever growing vinyl collection.
Gone from Vinyl to tape to CD and back to Vinyl
As getting older views are changing, but like to keep an open mind. Latest things is bands that only want to either play London, or just big venues.
Seems we either get lumped with London, or sometimes Manchester or Birmingham. Seems North East has dropped off the map, apart from the horrible venue that is Leeds. So now sticking to old or up and coming bands, loving the smaller venues like Picturedrome at Holmfirth.

Dont know much about the London scene or related towns but grew up digging all the British invasion bands from '66 on like Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Who, etc...then I became a huge fan of British prog rock-
Yes, Genesis, Floyd , King Crimson, Tull....and never looked back. Now I mostly listen to oddball obscure prog rock from England and Europe....but I do dip into classic rock now and then.

I saw BJH at the Picturedome....I noticed The Beat are gracing Holmfirth in June..sadly without Ranking Roger (rip)..let's hope The Shuffler is on bass!
Saw many fledgling bands in Sheffield and Newcastle (whitley bay)...not been to Donnie itself for 30 years...was on a Builders Club Sunday outing years ago...Gene Pitney and a brass section played a Doncaster working men's club...all for £10 including scampi and chips!

Doncaster in south Yorkshire or as the locals call it 'Donny' and is NWOBHM Saxon territory I believe.
