Greatest Voice in Rock

In my opinion, Freddie Mercurey has the greatest voice in all of rock n' roll. He made Queen a great band. Post if you think different from this obvious statement.

I do think different.... Freddie hasn't pleased me much.

I don't have any single favorite though, I love rock voices in general. Mick Jagger, Bob Dylan, Kurt Cobain, Neil Young, Jim Morrison, Robert Plant, David Gilmour, Layne Staley, Keith Relf, Chris Cornell, Jake Holmes, The Primatives.... so many great ones.

I can't decide on who's the greatest, but Ozzy is definitely most recognizable!!

Freddie had a dynamic, over-the-top persona. He was an outstanding front man. Although his is a recognizable voice, I can't say it's the best.

I don't know that you can pick "one best voice." I don't want Jon Anderson singing "Number of the Beast" and I wouldn't want James Hetfield singing "Dust in the Wind." One voice would be difficult, considering all the genres.

I guess my short list of favorites would be:

Greg Lake
Jon Anderson
Roger Daltrey
Neal Morse
Rob Halford
Peter Gabriel
Chrissy Hynde

Actually I was just talking about this the other day. I guess a few would have to be Lennon, McCartney, Ronnie James Dio, Robin Zander, Robert Plant (Although i personally think he sucked live), and David Lee Roth.

I'm surprised on one mentioned him, but at one time I feel that one of the best voices in rock (but we haven't heard him much recently?) was:

Steve Perry both with Journey and solo; I really feel no one could belt out a rock tune, as well as a solid ballad like him (I always wanted to be like him).

Two of his contemporaries are also exceptional:

Lou Gramm of Foreigner &
Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon

And let's here if for these three ladies:

Pat Benatar
Annie Lenox
Both of whom had opera training before turning to rock and pop.
and: Joan Jett
