Gratitude is a band that lasted one album before they disbanded. The album, the self titled Gratitude is one I love track for track!

The vocalist is awesome! He has so much grit and emotion in every song! The band is straight pop rock but to me has so much more energy and passion than a Matchbox 20 or Three Doors Down! Check out some tracks to see if you agree! :grinthumb

Drive Away
(The Single)

The Greatest Wonder
(gorgeous)

Last
(love his strong gravelly voice on this one)

This Is The Part
(cool rocker)

If Ever
(my favorite)

Hmm just had a listen to a couple. Not bad, but sound rather like some of the scene sought of bands around. Basically it's in a middle ground sought of areea where you feel they sacrificed creativity and individuality in favour of sales.

Reminds me of this sought of stuff.

I don't hear the resemblance at all dude. If anything Gratitude started in 2,000 and ended right at 2005, about a year before all time low even broke through. The hugest difference is that All Time Lows vocalist has no character. Just Vanilla. In each Gratitude song the vocalist is far more energetic and tells a story with his vocals. All Time low has a one note vocal heard a 1,000 times by bands like Simple plan while Gratitudes vocalist has cracks and rough patches in his vocals that give the vocals character. Oh, and Gratitude is a California pop rock band and not a pop punk band. Gratitudes songs don't reinvent the wheel with chord structures, themes or genre but they are from from being a copycat band. :grinthumb

Oh no I wasn't talking about the two bands sounding like eachoter. I was talking about that inbetweeness of the sound. It feels restrained, just IMO

Oh gotcha! I guess it comes down to you not feeling the emotion I'm drawing from the songs. :heheh: That's cool! I think I have the advantage of hearing it on c.d. quality and getting to absorb them over time. By the way, the single Drive Away is their weakest track! Hope you made it farther than that! :grinthumb

I listened to their single earlier and wasn't exactly impressed, but now I'm listening to If Ever, and I'm sensing a fair bit of Jimmy Eat World, especially in the vocals. The chorus bit is very good too, I feel Gratitude could be one of the few bands I enjoy from this particular variety (Some would call it emo) of pop rock.

I can't deny their talent, because very few people can make an acoustic and vocal only song sound so good :grinthumb

Cool Sal! I also think The Greatest Wonder treads that If Ever territory! I admit that while I never throw a band into the Emo pile because I'll never understand what makes a band that accept looking at it's fanbase I can see Gratitude falling into that label pit. The time they came out and the emotional territory of their lyrics I guess could put them thier. Anyway, I see Emo as emotional and I feel everything I listen to contains emotion so my music overall is Emo. :grinthumb
