Ginger Baker Says the Rolling Stones Are ‘Not Good Musicians’

Billy Cobham said a group is only as good as its drummer and in many cases he is right. A number of drummers are good technical musicians; Gary Husband, who worked with Jack Bruce and Robin Trower, is a classically trained pianist. He has also worked with John McLaughlin and Billy Cobham. Some drummers are showmen, which can mask their technical ability, like Carl Palmer and Terry Bozzio.

The stories were probably apocryphal, but I would love to have seen Ginger Baker with Black Sabbath (in the absence of Bill Ward, who would be my first choice).

I recently saw this documentary on Ginger Baker. I did not know a lot about him prior to this other that other than he was the drummer for Cream and he was totally nuts.
