Don't know what to make of all this other than what everyone else has said.
Sounds to me like he's grasping at just about anything to come to terms with the implosion of his band, I don't think any record label that signed a band like Queensryche would complain if you gave them a quality hard rock/metal album, that is your trademark after all.
